QNB holds HR conference for staff

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) QNB convened the first ever gathering of its international HR professionals to a special conference held at the QNB offices at Al Mathaf Tower in Doha recently. As part of its commitment to fulfil its vision to become a Middle East and Africa (MEA) icon by 2017, the purpose of the event was to discuss innovative and relevant best practice Human Capital solutions across a range of relevant subject matters.

Attending the two-day conference were QNB country human resources managers from 13 countries and from across a number of bank subsidiaries such as QNB AlAhli, QNB Tunisia and CBI in Dubai.

A key component of the conference was discussion of the important subject of talent management. As both a leading employer of choice and the biggest bank in Qatar, it is important that QNB has a coordinated and quality performance approach towards retaining and attracting top talent in an increasingly competitive environment. The conference discussed this matter in great detail and HR professionals from across the QNB Group agreed that the subject of career development remained an essential deliverable for QNB Human Resources.

Commenting on the success of the conference, General Manager-Group Human Capital, Yousef Al Othman, said: "Given the expanding International footprint of the QNB Group, it is essential that the important subjects of Talent Management and Career Development continue to be at the forefront of our human capital strategy. This conference is an important step in developing a quality and consistent approach to these matters and we are delighted to have hosted such an important International HR gathering here in Doha".

QNB Group provides a range of career development opportunities, such as the Ambassador Programme, launched in 2011, to improve and evolve individual capabilities and skills. The Ambassador Programme was launched within the framework of Talent Management and Qatari Leadership Development agenda. The aim of the programme is to expose high-potential Qatari employees to the international banking environment so that they can develop best international practice leadership competencies and skills.

Programme participants are seconded to QNB international branches for a period of 12-24 months. Upon successful completion of the programme, participants return to QNB in Qatar and assume leadership positions as per an agreed Executive Development Plan.

Through its dedicated Learning and Development Centre QNB continues to engage its employees in online learning, face-to-face workshops and varied work assessments, in collaboration with global companies specialising in performance improvement.
