Wife lover to die for husband's murder

(MENAFN- Arab News) A court in Riyadh has sentenced two Syrians to death for murdering a Saudi citizen in the outskirts of Riyadh last year local media said.

The Syrian woman had reportedly agreed with her fellow compatriot to kill her husband in a remote area outside Riyadh because she hated him the woman told investigators.

The ruling is likely to be challenged in the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court which will decide whether to uphold or reject the verdict judicial sources told the paper.

The ruling will prevail if endorsed by the higher courts the sources said.

The defendant had lured her husband to go on a desert trip where the Syrian man shot the husband using his own pistol the paper said.

The wife called passers-by for help after the killer left the scene claiming that she and her husband were on a picnic in the Dharat Mahdiya area when three masked men attacked them and tried to take their personal belongings. The woman alleged that they killed her husband when he resisted their attacks and then fled the scene the paper said.

Investigations revealed that the victim died as a result of several gunshot wounds to the head neck and extremities.

The woman was considered a suspect in the case right from the beginning in the absence of suspects. On interrogation she broke down and confessed to the crime.

The woman also admitted that she had been having an affair with her accomplice and had agreed with him on the bogus post-murder scenario the paper said.
