iPhone 6's launch in China delayed by one license


(MENAFN) Chinese regulators have not yet given Apple Inc. one critical license, thus preventing the company from selling its new iPhone 6 in one of the most important markets, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

iPhone6 received regulatory approval to be used on domestic frequencies, however a key network license is preventing the phone from being sold in China.

Apple has refused to comment on the matter, but there have been speculations that the company is facing difficulty getting the requisite licenses from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), which tests phones before allowing them entry into the national telecom networks. The MIIT needs to approve every new phone and thus the license usually takes one to two months to be granted.

Meanwhile, iPhone sales in China grew 50 percent during second quarter compared to the same period last year, despite signs that Chinese consumers were waiting for the next-generation iPhone 6,
