FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dubai U.A.E (September 18 2014): In most religious and non-religious countries around the world it is a given that a traditional marriage consists of one man and one woman. The most accepting of countries may even allow two men or two women to marry but rarely will you hear of one man and multiple women. In fact in the UK and many other places around the world marrying an individual whilst already married to another is classed as bigamy and is a criminal offense which can land you in prison. However if you look hard enough you will find successful marriages that consist of exactly that. These marriages however aren’t recognised by law as marriage; in fact these marriages are really just a relationship in which each partner assumes the roles and responsibilities of a marriage but without the certificate to confirm it.

In Islam polygamy has always been permissible. The Quran says “...marry women of your choice two or three or four; but if you fear you shall not be able to deal justly with them then only marry one” – [Quran 4:3]. Throughout history in all major religions there are numerous examples of polygamous marriages; e.g. Abraham Isaac Jacob Moses David Solomon and Muhammad (peace be upon them) to name a few. So why the taboo? In an ever more connected world the lines have become blurred between different cultures and different values resulting in a confusion of what is acceptable and what is not.

Islam didn’t invent polygamy; Islam just made it more humane instituting equal rights between each wife. Polygamy dates back as far as ancient Greece and it wasn’t until the Roman Catholic Church came along and imposed rules on having just one wife that it became a taboo. Even though multiple lovers was still a norm; a fashion which still thrives today in the modern world.

SecondWife.com has created a platform for practicing Muslims who still think of polygamy as an honourable act following the tradition of the prophets. Enforcing strict guidelines for men and women alike to make sure a high standard of modesty is retained. They also define the lines between matrimonial polygamy which is illegal to Islamic polygamy which isn’t. They state clearly that for a second third or fourth marriage there is to be a ceremony confirming the marriage but no legal signings of any marriage certificates.

They believe the taboo of polygamy will one day be gone. After all surely committing to such a marriage is better than indulging in multiple mistresses. Which can not only destroy a family but also leave children with broken homes. For more information please visit http://www.secondwife.com
