Saudi Ports Authority: ports' capacity amounts to 532 million tons per year


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Saudi Ports Authority has operated since the month of Ramadan in 1396AH , nine major industrial and commercial ports in the Kingdom ensuring 95% of the Kingdom's exports and imports handled through these ports (excluding crude oil).

The Authority said in its report on the occasion of the Kingdom's National Day 84 that the ports include Jeddah Islamic Port, King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, King Fahd Industrial Port in Jubail, King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu, Jubail Commercial Port, Yanbu Commercial Port, Jazan Port, Dhiba Port, and Ras Al-Khair Port.

The absorptive capacity of these ports reached 532 million tons per year, and handling tons for the year 2013 amounted to (194) million tons (excluding crude oil), an increase of (3.75%) compared to the previous year, and an increase of (5.31%) in comparison to the targeted quantity in the fourth year of the ninth development plan amounting to (184) million tons by (5.43%).
