Saudi- Grain Silos and Flour Mills Organization achieves food security


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Grain Silos and Flour Mills Organization has been playing a leading role in economic development through providing the needs of citizens and residents and achieving food security in the Kingdom.

The Organization was established under a Royal Decree issued in 1392AH and it has achieved many developments since its inception.

In its report on the occasion of the Kingdom's National Day 84, the Organization said that the silos' storage capacity amounted to 2.52 million tons, ensuring a strategic reserve of wheat enough for the consumption in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a year.

It revealed that the grinding capacity of mills increased to 11,280 tons of wheat per day, and the total production of flour types reached 2.4 million tons, an increase of up to more than 5.8 percent.

The Organization noted that its budget for the of fiscal year 1434/1435 AH amounted SR 2.48 billion, which is the largest in its history.
