BP Oman, Sharakah sign agreements to support 30 SMEs, entrepreneurs


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) As part of BP Oman's social investment programme Sharakah on Wednesday signed agreements with four companies to support more than 300 entrepreneurs and 30 small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The agreements were signed by Abdullah al Jufaili general manager of Sharakah and the CEOs of partnering companies in the presence of Khalid al Haribi social investment manager of BP Oman and under the auspices of Talal Sulaiman al Rahbi deputy secretary general of the Supreme Council for Planning and vice chairman of Public Authority for SME Development.

Agreements were signed with Inspired Solutions Lighthouse BusafiDesigns and bayantebyan as part of BP Oman's ebda for Enterprise Development Projects (ebda enterprise). Ebda enterprise is a part of BP Oman's social investment programme to support in-country value through educational and entrepreneurial initiatives.

Haribi said 'The social investment programme aims to promote sustainable values to leave a positive impact on the community and country.'

Speaking on the occasion Jufaili said 'Ebda enterprise is designed to complement existing entrepreneurial initiatives and activities in the community. We are happy to be a part of this extensive project that will support more than
300 individuals and at least 30 SMEs.'

Ebda enterprise supports start-up businesses by offering them business plans and financing options to boost national and regional growth.

Haribi added 'The projects follow four themes that would contribute to fill gaps in building the capacity of entrepreneurs: Access to ideas and feasible business plans access to finance access to growth and access to markets.'
As associate implementing partners in ebda enterprise BusafiDesign will conduct branding workshops for 30 businesses and provide them with full branding services.

Lighthouse has also partnered with Sharakah by conducting research on SMEs in Oman. Ajay Singh CEO of Lighthouse said 'We have been carrying out this research for the last two years and have profiled more than 100 entrepreneurs in Oman but in order to make this research more robust it was important that we cover close to 500 by conducting their psychometric and behavioural profiling.'

Inspired Solutions an SME consultancy has joined as a partner to select train evaluate and mentor entrepreneurs particularly in Dakhliyah and Dhahirah governorates. William R Crew CEO of Inspired Solutions said 'We are firmly committed to develop innovative strategies and projects that reflect these values.'

Under ebda enterprise bayantebyan will also prepare an online programme on SMEs and entrepreneurship. Faisal al Qarni managing director of bayantebyan said 'Through this programme we aim to spread the culture of entrepreneurship across Oman.'
