Egyptian, UAE leaders affirm resolve to combat terrorism


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi affirmed Wednesday the need to exert collective efforts to combat terrorism in the Arab world and international arena.

During a meeting with visiting Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, President Al-Sisi called for more efforts to correct erroneous stereotypes on Islam and distinguish between the holy faith and terrorism.

The meeting was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb and other ministers, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Ehab Badawi told reporters following the meeting.

The two sides also discussed the regional and international developments, exchanged views on matters of common interest and stressed the need for making all efforts to achieve peace, security and stability, Ambassador Badawi said.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed conveyed to President Al-Sisi the greetings of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and his wishes for progress and prosperity for Egypt.

Sheikh Mohammad noted the depth of the historic and fraternal relations between the two brotherly counties and their keen interest in bolstering them in the service of their interests in all spheres.

He affirmed UAE's interest, under the leadership of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in supporting Egypt towards a new renaissance and a new start in order to enable it to confront the different challenges in a in a patriotic spirit that will enable it to meet people's aspirations for well-being, progress and growth.
