The European elite club football competition saw eight matches played on Wednesday, completing a remaining four out of eight groups, after an identical number of games were played a day earlier.

Germany international Jerome Boateng scored the last gasp winner in the final minute of original time at Allianz Arena as strong favourites Bayern bolstered their tough Group E standing with three points.

Their toughest home match of the group saw them climb to second on goal difference as AS Roma, in their corresponding fixture, scored an emphatic 5-1 drabbing of CSKA Moscow.

The result leaves Group G in the balance as an identical result was witnessed in the group's corresponding fixture between NK Maribor of Slovenia and Portugal's Sporting Lisbon.

In Catalonia, Barcelona scraped a 1-0 victor over Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia thanks to defender Gerrard Pique's header midway in the first half, climbing to the top of the group as Dutch side Ajax drew 1-1 with Paris Saint-Germain.

The remaining Group H saw FC Porto of Portugal earn a 6-0 drabbing of Belarus outfit FC BATE Borisov while Spanish Liga side Athletic Bilbao were held at home in a stalemate draw by Shakhtar Donetsk.
