Man injured in Ras Al Khaimah crash succumbs

His 26-year-old elder sister who was sitting in the back seat was killed shortly after the accident that took place on September 9 while his another elder sister and younger brother who sustained several injuries are still receiving treatment at Saqr Hospital.

According to the forensic report Rashid Saeed who was driving received a fracture in the pelvis a brain hemorrhage an injury in the spleen and bruises all over the body and had excessive internal bleeding.

Though Rashid was moved to a private hospital in Dubai on Monday morning he could not make it. His elder sister will most likely be shifted to the same hospital a medical source said.

Col Ali Saeed Al Alaikam Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department RAK Police blamed the accident on Rashid who was surprised to find a vehicle coming from the opposite direction as he was trying to overtake a truck.

“Attempting to go back to the lane behind the truck Rashid panicked failed to estimate the right distance and the car rammed with the rear of the truck.”

Col Al Alaikam said the impact of the accident killed the elder sister identified only as A. Saeed. “Rashid’s other 30-year-old sister S. Saeed and 22-year-old younger brother Hassan Saeed were seriously injured.”

The family was heading from Fujairah to Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

The Central Operations Room of the RAK Police alerted of the mishap dispatched police and traffic patrols along with an ambulance and rescue teams to the scene.

All injured passengers who were stuck in the car were pulled out and rushed to Saqr Hospital. “Though Rashid’s sister was quickly admitted to the Intensive Care Unit her injuries were so severe that she passed away one hour after the mishap” Col Alalaikam said.

He urged all motorists to abide by the traffic rules and regulations particularly speed limit pay attention to the roads and never overtake a vehicle until the road is totally clear.
