Three Afghan Army Soldiers Martyred in IED Attack


(MENAFN- QNA) At least three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were martyred following improvised explosive device (IED) explosion, defense officials said Wednesday.

The Afghan Defense ministry spokesman Gen. Zahir Azimi said the three Afghan soldiers were martyred in the past 24 hours, according to the Afghan (khaam Press).

He did not disclose further information regarding the exact location where the incident took place.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the incident so far.

Taliban militants and other insurgent groups frequently use improvised explosive device (IED) as the weapon of their choice to target Afghan and coalition forces.

According to security officials, the Afghan army deaths stands at four service members daily on average which is mainly caused due to improvised explosive device (IED) attacks.

Defense minister Bismillah Mohammadi told Afghan senators on Tuesday that the current year was one of the deadliest for the Afghan armed forces as NATO troops have fully transferred the security responsibilities to Afghan lead.
