Airbus to sell off units, focusing on defence division

(MENAFN) Europe's airplanes maker giant Airbus Group announced plans to sell half a dozen businesses with combined revenues of USD2.6 billion, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

The move comes as the jetmaker bids simplifying its Defence and Space division to focus mainly on warplanes, missiles, launchers and satellites, the France-based firm said.

Europe's largest aerospace group signaled a break with previous efforts to diversify into security activities and a halt to investment in defence electronics, in which it lacks the scale of rivals.

"We came to the conclusion that our division must focus on the following core businesses: Space, Military Aircraft, Missiles, and related Systems and Services," head of the Defence & Space business said.
