Africa's int'l tourists up 3 percent in H1

(MENAFN) According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Africa's international tourist arrivals grew by 3 percent during the first half of 2014, Xinhua reported.

The growth was due to the combined recovery in North Africa, but indicated that the current Ebola outbreak, which has affected West Africa, might affect tourism on the continent.

"The main focus is on taking supporting action to contain the virus. But we must also ensure that misperceptions do not harm the African travel and tourism sector," the UNWTO Secretary-General said.
