Kuwait parliament speaker invites Iraqi counterpart to visit Kuwait


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Iraqi parliament speaker Salim Al-Jabouri on Tuesday received an official invitation from Kuwaiti parliament speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim to visit the country.

Kuwaiti Ambassador to Iraq Ghassan Al-Zawawi delivered the invitation for the visit to be scheduled later on, to the Iraqi speaker here.

"Iraq is witnessing serious developments on both political and security arenas. This requires further cooperation with Iraq's neighboring countries especially Arab ones," Iraqi parliament said in a statement by Al-Jabouri.

Al-Jabouri said that Iraq's stability reflects the region's stability, stressing the necessity of an Arab prominent role in restoring stability in the country.

Meanwhile, Al-Zawawi underlined Kuwait's readiness to expand cooperation between the two countries, deeming Iraq as a "pivotal country".

The statement said Al-Ghanim confirmed that Kuwait is looking forward to continuing collaboration with Iraq to achieve common interest of the two peoples.

Al-Ghanim praised the distinguished bilateral cooperation in different domains, including parliamentary affairs, and exchanging views on a host of issues of common concern, noted the statement.
