Obama: EbolaGlobal Threat

(MENAFN- QNA) The Ebola epidemic in West Africa is spiraling out of control, US President Barack Obama said.

The scenes described by health care workers who have visited affected areas in West Africa are "horrific" and "gut-wrenching," Obama said.

It will be a daunting task to fight the disease, but the medical community knows how to do it, Obama said. "If we take the proper steps, we can save lives, but we have to act fast. We can't dawdle on this," Obama said.

Obama spoke at the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), saying the federal public health agency has undertaken the largest international response in its history.
