French Maurel et Prom, Tanzania sign oil supply deal

(MENAFN) The state of Tanzania has signed an agreement with French oil producer Maurel et Prom and Wentworth Resources for gas supply, Arab News reported.

The deal aims at doubling the African country's power generation capacity to 3,000 megawatts by 2016, as initial gas delivery is estimated to start between Jan. 22 and April 22 of 2015.

The natural gas will be supplied to a state-owned pipeline which is a 532 km long, coming from the south of the country to the commercial African capital Dar es Salaam.

"The signing of the Mnazi Bay agreement is a significant advancement in the development of the gas industry and lays the foundation for the future domestic gas development," Wentworth's executive chairman said.
