UN peacekeepers on Golan Heights pull back to Israel

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The situation in the UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) area of separation on the Syrian side of the borders with Israel has deteriorated severely over the last several days, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement on Monday.

"Armed groups have made advances in the area of UNDOF positions, posing a direct threat to the safety and security of the UN peacekeepers along the Bravo line (in Syria) and in Camp Faouar," he said.

All the UN personnel in these positions have thus been relocated to the "Alpha" side (Israel), as UNDOF continues to use all available assets to carry out its mandate in this exceptionally challenging environment, he added.
