Algeria, France discuss military cooperation


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Algerian Deputy Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army (ANP) Lt. Gen. Ahmed Gaid Salah on Sunday discussed with visiting French Chief of Defense Staff, General Pierre de Villiers, on bilateral military cooperation and issues of common interest.

They also considered bilateral military cooperation, issues of common interest and exchanged views on current issues.

The French general is expected to hold talks with numerous Algerian officials during his visit to the country.

Algeria and France are allied in a military cooperation agreement and Algerian local newspapers suggested today that Paris is persuading Algeria to participate with France in military action in Libya.
