Friendly fire kills 4 Hezbollah fighters in Syria

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Four members of the Lebanese Hezbollah group, including a leading member, were killed by friendly fire on the eastern rural outskirts of Damascus on Sunday.

The fighter planes of the Syrian regime mistook a position in Kashkol area for an opposition site and pounded it, killing four Hezbollah gunmen, including director of the financial affairs department of the group, said sources of the Syrian opposition.

In a related development the opposition Supreme Military Council Command in the northern city of Aleppo appointed Brigadier Staff Zaher Al-Saket as commander of the council, replacing Colonel Abdul-Salam Hameidi after consultations with member brigades.

Brigadier Al-Saket, a resident of Bab Al-Hadid town, Aleppo governorate, used to serve as head of the chemical unit of the fifth division of the regular army before defecting to the opposition forces in 2013.
