Ban saddened over death of Chadian peacekeeper


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is deeply saddened by the death of one Chadian peacekeepers following an attack on a military vehicle of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), which took place in the vicinity of Aguelhok, Kidal Region, earlier today.

Four other peacekeepers were wounded during the incident.

Ban strongly condemned this attack, which follows another attack in the Kidal Region on September 2 that killed four peacekeepers and wounded 14 others, an attributable statement by his spokesman said.

These attacks will not alter the determination of the United Nations to support the Malian people in their search for peace, it added.

The UN chief expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the killed peacekeeper and to the Government and people of Chad, and wished a full and speedy recovery to those injured.
