Dubai — The Dar Al Ber Society (Dabs) has initiated its annual Haj and Adahi (sacrificial animals) campaign for this year. A senior official on Saturday said Emirati and foreign philanthropists can participate in the drive in which meat of animals sacrificed to mark Eid Al Adha and clothes are distributed to the poor needy and low-income families in the UAE and around the globe.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed executive director of Dabs said the price for a local sacrificial animal has been set at Dh500 while the cost for distributing meat abroad is Dh350 as instructed by the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai.
“The Adahi contributions which will be collected through the Dabs branches in Dubai Ajman Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah will be delivered in collaboration with 49 accredited entities in 37 Arab African and Asian countries and the UAE embassies abroad.”
Part of the donations will be allotted for Haj-based preaching activities and the distribution of over 50000 booklets and CDs on the ‘perfect Haj’; pilgrims’ due daily practices; the ethics of travel; the provisions of Adahi; a thorough directory on Haj and Umrah; and select supplications during Haj he added.
The activities of the Haj and Adahi campaign will be unveiled in detail through the weekly live radio programme ‘Gates of Heaven’ being broadcast every Friday on the Noor Dubai radio station under the sponsorship of the Dabs.
He urged philanthropists to donate at any of the Dabs branches via its official website or through Dubai Islamic Bank and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank.
