MEA Denies Plane s Emergency Landing in Rome

(MENAFN- QNA) Lebanon's Middle East Airlines (MEA) Company has denied the reports circulated Sunday regarding an emergency landing in Rome of one of its planes due to a suspected bomb on board.

"The MEA flight, which was on its way to Beirut coming from Geneva, appeared to have a passenger missing on board despite completing all his boarding procedures, for which reason the flight captain decided to land in Rome as a precautionary measure. However, and after thorough inspection of the plane, no evidence of any bomb was detected," MEA said in a statement.

"The MEA plane has taken-off again, continuing its flight to Beirut," the statement added.

Media reports said earlier today that the Lebanese plane was forced to land in Rome's Fiumicino airport Italy, after a false alarm that there might be a bomb on board.
