37 Taliban Militants Killed During Clearing Operations


(MENAFN- QNA) At least 37 Taliban militants were killed following coordinated military operations conducted by Afghan national security forces in various provinces of the country.

"In past 24 hours, Afghan National Police conducted several anti-terrorism joint operations with Afghan National Army and NDS to clean some of the areas from terrorists and enemies of peace and stability of Afghanistan," the Ministry of Interior said in a statement.

The statement further added that the operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Maidan Wardak, Kandahar, Takhar, Kunar, Paktiya and Kapisa provinces, according to the Afghan (Khaama Press).

At least 37 armed Taliban members were killed, 19 wounded and three others were arrested by Afghan National Security Forces, the statement said.

Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds ammunition during the operations, the ministery said in the statement.

The statement also added that five armed Taliban (IED planters) were killed by their own explosives while they were placing IEDs in the main road of Shah Wali Kot district of southern Kandahar province on Saturday afternoon.
