(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The UN Special Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura has stressed determination to accomplish his mission through developing new ways to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people and end tension in the region.
Following his talks with the Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam in Beirut on Saturday, De Mistura said he had important talks in Syria, adding that he would submit a report to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on his tour on the region.
He also expressed hope that his efforts would contribute to reaching an end to the Syrian crisis, which he said continued over a long time and impacted the region.
De Mistura said the Lebanese Premier had briefed him on the price the country is paying owing to the "dangerous and complicated" crisis in neighboring Syria.
