Iraqi President Discuss with UN Official Situation in Iraq


(MENAFN- QNA) Iraqi President Fuad Masum discussed today with UN Under-Secretary-General and Emergency Relief Coordinator (USG/ERC) Valerie Amos the humanitarian situation in Iraq and ways to deliver aid and work to overcome obstacles hampering their arrival.

An Iraqi presidency statement said Masum met in Baghdad last night with Valerie Amos, who was accompanied by Jacqueline Carol Badcock, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (Development and Humanitarian Support) and Resident Coordinator/ Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq.

During the meeting Masum hailed the UN role in Iraq, praising the work of humanitarian efforts which the global organization is making in the field of assisting the displaced Iraqis.

The President stressed the need to overcome the red tape to speed up the arrival of aid to those in need.
