QRC receives QR750,000 from Chevron Phillips Chemical Qatar

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) has received a donation of QR750,000 from Chevron Phillips Chemical Company Qatar to fund three QRC social projects.

Michael F. Zeglin, president of Chevron Phillips Chemical Qatar, accompanied by Laura Burdick, international human resources business partner for Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, visited QRC headquarters and presented the donation cheque to QRC Secretary-General Saleh bin Ali Al Mohannadi.

The donation will support three projects: Hygiene kits for 3,000 expatriate workers (QR450,000); collective lunch for 10,000 expatriate workers on International Volunteers Day and National Day in December 2014 (QR250,000); and a QRC drinking fountain € year-round distribution of water and juices for 10,000 expatriate workers (QR50,000).

Commenting on this initiative, Al Mohannadi commended the humanitarian and social approach of Chevron Phillips Chemical Qatar.

"Day after day, Chevron Phillips Chemical Qatar proves its belief in and proper fulfilment of its duties towards society through recurrent generous donations to QRC humanitarian campaigns and work inside Qatar, as well as contributions to different QRC activities and events, as in the latest Doha Dialogue on Migration 2014, where Chevron Phillips Chemical Qatar was a golden sponsor."

Al Mohannadi invited all individuals and institutions to contribute to initiatives that serve the best interests of the poor and the vulnerable.

"QRC encourages all state sectors to assume their social responsibility and play a bigger role in making a positive change in the lives of disadvantaged people."

"Chevron Phillips Chemical Qatar highly values its relationship with the QRC and is a proud supporter of these specific social projects," said Zeglin. "These initiatives are worthwhile and will benefit expatriate workers in Qatar."

Social responsibility is one of QRC's strategic principles, applied through promoting partnerships and urging the business sector, civil society organisations and NGOs to exercise this approach on the ground by contributing to charitable and social welfare efforts.
