Kurdistan Welcomes Obama's Strategy Against Terrorism


(MENAFN- QNA) The Iraqi Kurdistan regional government of has welcomed the new strategy of US President Barack Obama against terrorism, expressing complete readiness to continue in fighting terrorists and to help any international coalition to uproot terrorism.

A statement issued today by the Kurdistan government presidency said the progress of terrorist, occupation of large territories in Iraq and aggression against Kurdistan region, do not pose thereat to Iraq and Kurdistan only, but will also bring danger to the region and the whole world, adding that terrorism is an international phenomenon and ending it requires multi-party regional and international efforts.

On Wednesday night, President Obama outlines their future strategy against Islamic State Militants in Iraq and Syria.

'We will be working with the Iraqi government, we will expand our efforts beyond protecting our own people and humanitarian missions, so that we’re hitting IS targets as Iraqi forces go on offense. Moreover, I have made it clear that we will hunt down terrorists who threaten our country, wherever they are. That means I will not hesitate to take action against IS in Syria, as well as Iraq", said Obama.

President Obama also added that they would send an additional 475 military advisers to Iraq, however these American forces will not have a combat mission.
