QNB signs agreement to support Traffic Department campaigns

(MENAFN- The Peninsula)  The General Directorate of Traffic has signed a cooperation agreement with QNB to sponsor awareness activities and campaigns organised by the Traffic Department.

The agreement was signed by the Director General of the Traffic Department, Brig. Muhammad Saad Al Kharji, and the Assistant General Manager of QNB, Salim Anzan Al Noaimi, at the Traffic headquarters.

Brig Al Kharji said that the Traffic Department was keen to cooperate with civil institutions and community establishments, adding that concerted efforts by the department in association with various governmental and non-governmental organisations were bringing success to traffic awareness campaigns organised by the department. As a result, the number of accidents has dropped despite the increasing number of vehicles on the roads, he said.

He said that the Traffic Department and QNB had been cooperating for several years. He pointed out that many traffic awareness events had achieved great success under the auspices of Qatar National Bank, whereas the Ministry of Interior had won the best awareness film award at the annual meeting of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, in 2007. That film was produced with cooperation from QNB.

Anzan, the Assistant Director of QNB, thanked the Traffic Department for its trust in the bank, stating that the cooperation was a part of the social responsibility entrusted to the bank. He said the bank would always cooperate in all awareness efforts of the Traffic Department, especially its efforts to reduce the number of traffic offences and accidents.

A campaign to promote respect for the traffic law and prevent accidents, an ideal driver campaign, a pedestrian safety campaign, a campaign titled 'Driving is a shared responsibility', a campaign on public parking, and a traffic school village campaign are some of the initiatives to be sponsored by QNB.
