(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) As per the ICC rules Ajmal will remain suspended and can apply for a reassessment after remedial measures on his action.Dubai — Saeed Ajmal suspension was inevitable since he chose to take liberty after being cleared for suspect bowling action in 2009 according to a famed Sharjah-based groundsman.
“It was a tragedy waiting to befall on him. I have been telling Saeed to slow down but he kept on bowling faster and that causes elbow to bend more than the permissible limit” groundsman Israr Ahmed who has overseen 215 ODIs at the historic Sharjah Cricket Stadium told Khaleej Times on Wednesday.
“After getting cleared when he was first reported in 2009 Ajamal took the liberty and bent his arm more than usual. He should have been careful to avoid this ignominy” he said.
“There’s scope to rectify Ajmal’s action but that would take time. He needs to be patient to make a comeback into the international cricket” added Israr who is believed to have given tips both to Pakistan’s Saqlain Mushtaq and India’s Harbhajan Singh on the art of bowling ‘doosra’.

Ali Anwar Jaffery a senior sports administrator in the UAE said: “Saeed is an asset for Pakistan and the void created by his suspension will not be easy for Pakistan to fill.
“In my opinion Pakistan bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed is responsible to an extent for this tragedy. He is a seasoned campaigner and above all he himself is a spinner. He should have seen it coming and taken measures to avoid it while coaching the national team” he said.
Meanwhile Former Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has been asked to help Ajmal correct his bowling action. Former Pakistan great Javed Miandad has advised the spinner to go to Australia for remedial work.
