(MENAFN- Arab Times) NEW YORK Sept 11 (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah attended a reception held in his honor by Permanent Representative of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations Ambassador Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi. The reception came on the occasion of naming His Highness as a 'Humanitarian Leader' by the UN at a ceremonial event held at its headquarters on Tuesday. In brief remarks at the reception His Highness the Amir noted that the honor bestowed on him by the UN was to be shared with the Kuwaiti people whom he described as the pride of the nation. He wished the attendees of the reception the best and promised a return trip to see them again in New York perhaps next year. The reception was attended by Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al- Ghanim Deputy head of National Guard Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah His Highness Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al- Hamad Al-Sabah and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Justice Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. Meanwhile Minister of Communications and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Essa Al-Kandari said Wednesday that Kuwait Post will issue a special stamp to mark the UN honoring and naming of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah a 'Humanitarian Leader'. Honoring In statements to KUNA Al-Kandari said that the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir comes in recognition of His Highness' great contributions to humanitarian and relief action worldwide. In a big ceremony at the United Nations in New York late Tuesday UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon recognized the role of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah as Humanitarian Leader. In the meantime His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received a cable on Wednesday by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan marking the occasion of naming His Highness the Amir a 'Humanitarian Leader' in recognition of his great efforts for international humanitarian work. Sheikh Khalifa also congratulated His Highness the Amir on the United Nation's honoring of the State of Kuwait as 'Humanitarian Center' and highly praised His Highness Sheikh Sabah's outstanding humanitarian role which reflects a bright life filled with work and giving on regional and international levels towards enhancing the approach taken by Kuwait since its establishment. Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al- Maktoum and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al- Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces sent two similar cables of congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Sabah. UAE Supreme Council member and Ruler of Ajman Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al-Nuaimi sent a similar cable to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for naming him a 'Humanitarian Leader' by the United Nations and for naming the State of Kuwait a 'Humanitarian Center.' In the cable he expressed his deepest wishes to His Highness the Amir for this title Cable Ajman Crown Prince Ammar bin Humaid Al-Nuaimi sent a similar cable to His Highness the Amir. Meanwhile Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al- Qassemi Ruler of Ras AlKhaimah member of Supreme Council of the UAE sent a cable congratulating His Highness the Amir of Kuwait His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the UN naming of His Highness as a 'Humanitarian Leader.' Umm Al- Quwain Ruler Sheikh Saud Bin Rashed Al-Mualla also member of Supreme Council of the UAE sent a similar cable congratulating His Highness the Amir. In turn His Highness the Amir sent cables to UAE President and Rulers thanking them and expressing his utmost appreciation to their congratulations which reflected the deep-rooted bilateral ties. Meantime His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah received a cable from Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa congratulating him on his 'Humanitarian Leader' designation by the UN. King Hamad paid tribute to His Highness the Amir for his efforts and contributions in backing humanitarian work stressing that the honor is recognition of the major humanitarian role played by the Kuwaiti Amir to ease the suffering of people all over the world. Meanwhile Bahraini Crown Prince and First Deputy Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa mirrored these sentiments adding that 'the honoring comes in appreciation of the gracious efforts evident endeavours and leading initiatives His Highness the Amir has adopted in support of charitable efforts all around the world.' He also hailed the 'wise policies of His Highness the Amir in handling the various regional and international affairs and his committed efforts to achieving peace and stability in the world.' For his part Bahraini Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa said that he was proud of the 'solid fraternal relations between both countries' and wished His Highness the Amir 'abundant good health and happiness and more progress and prosperity to the Kuwaiti people.' In turn His Highness the Amir sent cables to Bahraini leaders thanking them and expressing his utmost appreciation to their congratulations which reflected the deep-rooted bilateral ties.
