Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Praises Qatar Relations


(MENAFN- QNA) Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu described Thursday bilateral relations with the State of Qatar as "excellent," praising the two countries' efforts in establishing stability in the region.

Speaking with Qatari newspaper Al Sharq, the Minister said that the two countries have worked together to work out a number of regional crises in the region. He added that the two countries have great abilities that can be used to promote cooperation in the humanitarian, cultural, economic and political fields.

He said that Turkey was looking forward to facilitating Qatari investment in the country. He noted that 2015 will see another sign of strong bilateral relations, when the two countries hold a joint cultural year and establish a Turkish school in Qatar.

Cavusoglu highlighted the strong economic cooperation, saying it is based on investment and bilateral trade. He added that strong trade relations aids in helping the people of the two countries get to know about the other culture.

On the Syrian crisis, the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs was keen to highlight that the Syrian regime was the sole responsible party for the displacement of 6.5 million Syrian people, in addition to the murder of 200,000 more. He noted that the Syrian regime used 421 ballistic missiles during the fighting.

He noted that the Turkish administration stood by the Syrian people in their revolution from day one. Turkey provided more than $3 billion so far to Syrian refugees.

On Turkey's relationship with the European Union, the Minister stressed that it remains a strategic goal for Turkey and that the current administration is continuing with its reforms to reach that goal.
