Indian medical firms keen to develop business ties in Oman


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A visiting Indian business delegation comprising hospitals health-care institutes and pharmaceutical companies evinced keen interest in doing business and developing long-term business relations with local companies to tap opportunities in Oman's growing health-care sector.

Organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) the Indian delegation consisting of 12 companies is participating in the Oman Health Exhibition and Conference. A business interaction meet was organised by the Indian embassy on Tuesday for visiting delegation members and their Omani counterparts.

H E Dr Darwish al Maharbi undersecretary for administrative and financial affairs at the Ministry of Health was the chief guest at the event.

Speaking at the event Vinod Pal director of FIEO and delegation leader said that the visiting Indian health-care companies are keen to do business and develop long-term business relations with Omani firms  'We feel that there is enormous scope for expansion in the health-care sector between Oman and India. India has over the years developed a high level of competence and excellence in the health-care sector and is offering world-class facilities at very competitive costs. India has also been manufacturing and supplying high quality health-care products and services to a large number of countries across the world.'

H E J S Mukul India's Ambassador to Oman said that Indian health-care sector players would like to establish new contacts in Oman with a view to investing in health facilities and medical science.

He said 'There are various opportunities and cooperation could be between institutes that want to set up branches in Oman or it could be in terms of facilitating Omani residents to go for medical tourism in India. In the past few years medical tourism in India has expanded significantly.' 

'India is exporting pharmaceuticals almost to every country in the world. There are possibilities to formulate joint ventures in this field to set up operations here and get advantage of Oman-US free trade agreement. Indian health-sector firms will be looking for possibilities of tie-ups with their Omani counterparts' H E Mukul added.
