Kuwaitis are proud of HH Amir's achievements says Health Min


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY Sept 9 (KUNA): Kuwaitis are proud of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah's forthcoming honoring as 'Humanitarian Leader' by the UN Minister of Health Dr. Ali Al-Obaidi said here Tuesday. Speaking to KUNA Al-Obaidi said that the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir is also an honor to the Arab and Islamic nations. Chairperson of Board of Trustees of His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al- Sabah's Informatics Award Sheikha Aida Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah said UN honoring of His Highness the Amir is considered 'a turning point in the organization (UN) history.' In a press release Sheikha Aida said naming His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a Humanitarian Leader is a welldeserved culmination of his continuous efforts in supporting and aiding people in need around the world through embracing many of the initiatives and conferences that brought together a number of countries from around the world to aid people suffering from various regions of the world. She noted that naming His Highness the Amir is now registered in human history as the leader of humanitarian work which mesmerized the world through his wise leadership in dealing with the most difficult crises facing humanity thus boosting global solidarity. She also explained that the naming of Kuwait as a Humanitarian Center brings more responsibility in continuing its leading humanitarian role globally. Efforts She added that what distinguishes Kuwaiti humanitarian work was its transparency and concentration on development projects and relief efforts in many countries. Sheikha Aida confirmed that His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al- Sabah Informatics Awards is keen to engage in realizing aspirations of His Highness the Amir through a comprehensive revitalization in all vital areas and through focus their efforts to achieve Kuwait's leadership in the field of technology and informatics. Meanwhile Kuwait Lawyers Association praised UN's honoring of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as 'Humanitarian Leader. The honoring is well deserved for His Highness's huge efforts in the humanitarian field around the world Chairman of the Board of the Association Wasmi Al-Wasmi told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). His Highness is well known for his efforts in creating world peace he said adding that Kuwait has always been among the top countries in aiding those in need including victims of war poverty and natural disasters. President of the Arab World Institute (IMA) Jack Lang on Tuesday praised the decision of UN Secretary- General Ban Ki-Moon to award His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the State of Kuwait a distinguished honour for their humanitarian work and their endeavours in the area of development. Lang who said he was heading to Kuwait in the coming weeks also praised His Highness the Amir and Kuwait for their generosity in contributing to the cultural domain in France and he singled out His Highness Sheikh Sabah for being 'the most generous donor to the Arab World Institute' in Paris. Decision 'I am delighted by the decision of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to attribute the title of 'Humanitarian Leader' to the Amir of Kuwait His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his action in favour of development and of countries in crisis' Lang said in an exclusive statement here. 'This honour largely merited is to reward a Head of State and a country that is committed with force and constancy to benefit major humanitarian causes. I am thinking notably in the recent past of Syria' Lang told KUNA. The IMA President went further in noting His Highness the Amir's constant support for culture and his generosity to French institutions. Indeed Kuwait has been an erstwhile pillar of support for the Louvre museum and its Islamic Art Department and for IMA itself which was badly in need of funds for renovation of the museum and its works. 'His Highness the Amir has always supported culture and was the most generous donor to the Arab World Institute whose museum and library renovation he supported' Lang pointed out. Expressing satisfaction at the UN awards the IMA President said that he will soon be in Kuwait and hopes to have the honour of personally congratulating His Highness the Amir during his trip there. UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director General Jose Graziano Da Silva said naming His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a Humanitarian Leader was in recognition for his relentless efforts and work in the international arena. In a statement Da Silva said that he joins others in the world in expressing his utmost appreciation for His Highness the Amir as a Humanitarian leader and for the State of Kuwait as Humanitarian Center for their role around the world.
