(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait's Ambassador to the US Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah hailed a ceremony hosted by the UN Secretary General in honour of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Tuesday.
This ceremony is befitting of the position of His Highness and his humanitarian generosity, he said.
On the UN chief Ban Ki-moon's speech, he said it was elaborate and expresses appreciation of the efforts of the Amir, his humanitarian role and Kuwait's leading role in humanitarian efforts.
Today's ceremony is nothing but an honouring and an appreciation of Kuwait and Kuwaitis, he said.
For his part, Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the UN and international organisations in Geneva Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghunaim said that the ceremony was characterized by a message, expressed by the Secretary General, which is appreciation for the efforts and distinguished role of Kuwait and the Amir related to the humanitarian side.
Through contacts with international humanitarian organisations we received thanks and appreciation for the humanitarian role which does include any political agendas, he added.
There is no doubt that this appreciation piles us with a huge responsibility to expand in the field of humanitarian affairs as well as others.
