Qatar- QA celebrates achievements of 120 Qataris


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Airways (QA) celebrated achievements of over 120 Qataris developees and direct hires in its Al Darb Qatarisation programme during a ceremony at Al Gassar Resort.

The programme also took the opportunity to introduce its newly re-launched branding featuring a unique logo to the guests.

Al Darb, which means the pathway, highlights career options within QA, as well as representing Qataris, set on a path to become global residents and ambassadors for Qatar.

The event was hosted by QA CEO, Akbar Al Baker, joined by the Minister of Finance and Chairman, QA, H E Ali Sherif Al Emadi, the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs H E Abdullah Saleh Mubarak Al Khulaifi and the Minister of Administrative Planning H E Issa Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi, Chairman, Ezdan Holding Group, H E Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, Mohammed Jaham Al Kuwari, Qatari Ambassador to Washington, and Dana Shell Smith, the US Ambassador to Qatar

Al Baker said: "Our efforts to invest in young Qataris is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. We have worked hard at developing Al Darb to ensure that we are offering opportunities for different levels of Qataris to progress, empower themselves, and create a sustainable future for Qatar by investing in their talent and building a strong local workforce."

The new recruits of students, developees and direct hires have entered one of the nine educational and training programmes offered by the airline: National Scholarship, Cadet Pilot, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Summer Internship, Graduate Development, Aviation Management, Airport Operations Management, Jossor Programme and Massey University MBA.

Each participant has been provided with a customised programme to help them meet needs and career aspirations through training, courses and a performance coach.

Those acknowledged at the event included 11 cadet pilots and four engineers who graduated from their programmes and have entered Al Darb Qatarisation programme.

Students who completed programmes at their educational institutions were honoured in the presence of their families, peers and colleagues.

Twenty-two cadet pilots and 10 engineers who completed training under Al Darb Qatarisation programme celebrated their graduation to become first officers and licensed engineers.

Al Darb, in its fourth year, has grown over the years with 450 students. QA supports 23 majors and with offices in over 130 destinations, Al Darb offers Qataris job and growth opportunities within the organisation, as well as training opportunities with partners like Boeing, Airbus, Thales and Rolls Royce.
