GOIC Holds Workshop on Industrial Market Intelligence Portal

(MENAFN- QNA) The Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) will hold Thursday a workshop on the Industrial Market Intelligence Portal (IMI Plus) at its headquarters in Doha.

Mohammed bin Khamis Al-Mukhaini, GOIC assistant secretary general for industrial information and studies, said the IMI Plus includes data on nearly 22,000 firm in GCC countries and Yemen. This database is a valuable source of information for investors, industrialists and analysts who want to carry out informed researches, product market studies and feasibility studies. Based on this database, they can also target new customers, make sound commercial decisions and seek new industrial investment opportunities since it offers approximately 350 industrial investment opportunities.

Furthermore, this database is perceived as a valuable information bank that allows interested parties and decision makers to access a treasure of accurate and updated data, in addition to governmental statistics and data used by industrial and socio-economic sectors in the region. The data is collected, collated and analyzed by experts from GOIC's Industrial Information Department who can access one of the most comprehensive, reliable and unique databases in the Gulf.

The workshop targets stakeholders, decision makers, investors, industrialists and economic analysts. It aims at introducing them to the IMI Plus and its uses. In addition, it allows them to do flexible searches per country, city, industrial activity, raw material and investment opportunities.

Participants will also attend a presentation about the 'control panel' that exposes and compares foreign trade data, socio-economic data and petrochemical sector data. This panel allows displaying and comparing information and controlling outputs, which facilitates decision makers' task.

In addition, the 'explorer' option will be introduced: it allows writing industrial, trade and economic reports based on the main databases in order to fulfil decision makers' needs.

The IMI Plus provides detailed data about foreign industries and trade, and more than 400 industrial and socio-economic indicators in a matrix for the seven member states. It also allows determining the market size for a specific product, identifying commercial exchange between GCC countries and other countries all over the globe or according to country group classification and determining the trade balance between any GCC country and foreign countries. Furthermore, the IMI Plus features data about imports and exports, net imports, design capacities and market size for more than 4,000 goods.

Moreover, the Portal allows users to identify names of factories, the size of their investments and their labor force according to the industrial activities in each country. It also includes information about the distribution of firms within the country according to industrial cities, industrial activities, design capacities of every product and every industrial activity within the country, and determining the evolution of industrial activities and analyzing foreign trade data and other data.

GOIC is a regional organization that brings together GCC states and Yemen that works as an advisory knowledge-based institution aiming at developing regional industries by providing data, information, specialized researches, consultations and technical services for the public and private sectors in GCC countries.
