Greenhouse Gas Emissions Highest in Three Decades

(MENAFN- QNA) Last year saw the emissions of Carbon Dioxide rise to its highest level of the past three decades, the United Nations' World Meteorological Organization (WMA) said Tuesday.

The increase was the highest since 1984, the UN agency added. WMO Secretary-General Michel Jarraud called on the international community to work together to cut the emission of CO2 decisively.

WMO attributed other factors other than burning of fossil fuels as the reason behind the rise, attributing the amount of burned biomass, and in the way that the gas is exchanged between the atmosphere and the biosphere on the ground, as additional factors.
