Deputy Premier Meets Head of UN/AU Mission in Darfur
(MENAFN- QNA) HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affair Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud met here today with Head of the African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) Mohamed Ibn Chambas who is also the African Union-United Nations Joint Special Representative in Darfur and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments of the peace process in Darfur and progress made towards the implementation of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur, especially in the field of security arrangements under which more than 1,300 members of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) were integrated in the ranks of the Sudanese regular forces.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs also met with the Chairman of the African Union High-Level Implementation Panel on Sudan (AUHIP) Thabo Mbeki and his accompanying delegation in the presence of Mohamed Ibn Chambas.
The meeting discussed the ongoing African mediation efforts to encourage Darfur armed movements that have not yet signed the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur to join the peace process on the basis of the Doha Document and to involve themselves in the national dialogue in Sudan.
