Ten Qaeda Militants, Two Soldiers Killed in East Yemen


(MENAFN- QNA) Ten members of Al-Qaeda organization and two soldiers were killed in clashes between army troops and Al-Qaeda militants in Hadramaut governorate in eastern Yemen.

The Yemeni Ministry of Defense said in a statement today that the forces of the 135th infantry brigade responded to a would-be car bomb attack by militants from Al-Qaida and targeted a military outpost belonging to the brigade at the entrance to Sir Valley in Al-Qutn Directorate, confirming that members of the point managed to destroy the car bomb before reaching its target. It added that ten insurgents were killed and several others injured in the ensuing violent clashes with two soldiers were killed and three others wounded in the clashes The Yemeni governorate of Hadramaut has been a hotbed of tension between the army and insurgents linked to Al Qaeda in the wake of many violent attacks which targeted security and military headquarters as well as government facilities in the governorate's cities.
