Gulf Air, Symantec sign key deal

(MENAFN) Bahrain's national carrier Gulf Air announced selecting Symantec to deploy its NetBackup and Enterprise Vault products to increase productivity in its technological services, Gulf Daily News reported.

Gulf Air is looked upon to be revolutionary in terms of transition to modern technological services and was the first organization in Bahrain to introduce private cloud computing in its IT operations, with its virtualized data center environments being the host of over 100 applications with more than 100 terabytes of business data, across 250 servers.

Symantec's NetBackup and Enterprise Vault solutions will complement the airline's data center and increase the stability and availability of numerous critical passenger services including web bookings, frequent flyer services, and other core airline solutions for managing its operations and finances.

"Gulf Air's commitment towards excellent passenger service is demonstrated in all layers of operations, and implementing state-of-the-art technologies like Symantec's solutions are key components to ensure stability of our services," Gulf Air acting chief executive said.
