Seoul's Top Nuclear Envoy Embarks on 3day US Trip


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Seoul September 08 (QNA) - South Korea's top nuclear envoy left Seoul on Monday for a three-day visit to the United States. South Korea's foreign ministry said today that the Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Hwang Joon-kook will hold a meeting on September 9 with his US counterpart Glyn Davies. The two sides are expected to talk about political development on the Korean Peninsula in the wake of the Ulchi-Freedom Guardian joint military drills and ways to address North Korea's nuclear issues according to Korea's KBS WORLD website. The two officials are also likely to discuss the planned US visit for South Korea's presidential National Security Office chief Kim Kwan-jin and the upcoming United Nations General Assembly. The meeting's agenda may also include the possibility of a US envoy's visit to North Korea to free three Americans detained there. Hwang's last visit to the U.S. was in June. (QNA)
