Dubai Holding to start working on The Mall of World in 2015


(MENAFN) Dubai Holding announced that the construction on its The Mall of the World, which will become the world's largest shopping mall, will begin in the first quarter 2015, Emirates 24/7 reported.

The company said it is currently appointing specialized consultants and expects to commence work on the first phase of the project during the January-March period of 2015.

The 48-million square feet, climate-controlled development is set to contain a shopping mall with an area of 8 million square feet as well as the world's largest theme park, which will be covered by a glass dome that will be open during the winter months.

In addition, the project will have a wellness dedicated zone, a cultural celebration district and a wide range of hospitality options comprising 20,000 hotel rooms.

Dubai Holding said it expects that once the mall is completed, it will become a year-round destination, welcoming around 180 million visitors annually
