Ryanair Airlines set to invest USD10bn in 100 Boeings

(MENAFN) Ryanair, the European low-cost airline, is in negotiations for a deal to buy around 100 Boeing's 737 MAX jetliner, which could be signed as early as the middle of September, and be worth around USD10 billion, Arab Times reported.

The move comes two months after Boeing said it was studying plans to offer more seats in its upcoming 737 MAX by introducing a modified version with 200 seats, 11 more than the current maximum.

Ryanair, which has developed a reputation for acquiring bargain aircraft, would be able to take advantage of low interest rates and Boeing's keenness to have a large launch customer for its latest variant of the MAX.

Ryanair plans to boost its traffic to 120 million passengers per year by 2022 from just over 80 million today.
