King Hamad Causeway designed to have railroad - Bahraini Min.

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) King Hamad Causeway, planned to link the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will have a railroad, Bahraini Minister of Communications Eng. Kamal Bin Ahmad said Saturday.

"The two sides have agreed on the route of the causeway which will be almost parallel to the existing King Fahad Causeway, and the technical and feasibility studies will be finalized soon," Bin Ahmad told Bahrain TV.

The technical study of the project will be on the agenda of the session of the GCC transport and communication ministers' committee, due in October, he pointed out.

"The project will link the railway networks of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia which will in turn be part of the greater GCC railway network," the minister revealed, noting that the project will have great impact on the economic, commercial and people-to-people exchanges between the two kingdoms.

Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz has approved the project during his meeting with Bahraini King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, yesterday.
