Opposition forces advance S. Syria

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Syrian opposition forces secured noticeable advances on the southern Quneitera front near the borders with Israel though the regime beefed up its troops in the region, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported Saturday.

Al-Nusra Front (ANF) and other armed groups are fighting the regular troops and the pro-regime militias around Mashara and Majdolina villages amid air raids by the regime's warplanes.

The battles are raging in the vicinity of the air defense battalion, Tall Al-Basha, Tall Nehid and Tall Bazaq with the opposition forces defying the air strikes and making advances on Tall Al-Sha'ar.

The clashes in the central sector of the rural outskirts of Quneitera claimed at least seven lives among the ranks of the ANF and other Islamist groups, according to SOHR report.

Meanwhile, the air attacks on Al-Raqqah city, north central Syria, claimed 30 civilian lives and wounded dozens of others.

The air attacks killed four civilians in Jerginaz town, to the south of the northern governorate of Idlib, and wounded three people in the northern district of Ma'arat Al-Nu'man city in Idlib.

The air force launched 12 strikes on Jobar district and other districts in Damascus amid missile attacks but no reports on casualties were received so far.

Other air raids targeted sites controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in the central towns of Aqirbat, Beit Al-Ra's and Sahl Al-Ghab while eight people were killed in an air raid on Allatamna village.
