UAE competitive because of leadership: Ministers


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) UAE was rated the most competitive among the Middle East and North African (Mena) countries in WEF report.Accolades poured in from all quarters for the UAE’s high ranking in the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report 2014-2015. The country was ranked as the 12th most competitive nation globally in the report — up seven places from last year. In the report the country was also rated the most competitive among the Middle East and North African (Mena) countries.

Ministers and senior officials attributed the success to the wise leadership of the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates; and the close follow-up of General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Minister Al Mazroui said the leadership has laid down the rules of excellence for building Emiratis capable of delivering achievements in all fields.

“It (the ranking) is a source of pride for every Emirati and a testimony of the international community to the prominent place the UAE occupies. The country has joined the club of advanced countries in terms of investment in human resources and other areas” Al Mazroui said.

Minister Al Mansouri also attributed the “landmark achievement” to the UAE’s wise leadership.

“The UAE advanced seven places in the overall competitiveness of its economy within just one year becoming the 12th most competitive nation globally ahead of countries such as Denmark Canada and South Korea underlining the solid will determination and ... ambition of our wise leadership and the dedication of the UAE people to enhance its leading role regionally as well as globally.

“Day by day the UAE is proving that it is ... a source of inspiration in politics economy development progress and other areas” Al Mansouri said.

Al Hashemi commended the efforts made by federal and local government organisations to boost the UAE’s position in global competitiveness which jumped seven ranks from last year. Al Hashemi said the efforts exerted by different government entities led to the country’s public institutions climbing four ranks from last year.

“This report is an international testimony to the UAE’s global lead and position among the world’s most advanced and innovative countries. This could not have been achieved without the vision of our leaders who aspire to realise the ultimate goal of the UAE Vision 2021 of making the UAE the best country in the world.

“I thank all individuals and organisations who contributed in boosting the UAE’s competitiveness” she said.
