Chinese President's visit to Pakistan Postponed


(MENAFN- QNA) Chinese President Xi Jinping postponed his scheduled visit to Pakistan in the wake of security concerns.

The Chinese president was scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on September 14, 2014.The postponement of the Chinese president's visit has put on hold US $32 billion agreement, particularly projects in the power sector.

According to the sources, the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan had requested the government to vacate the Red Zone of Islamabad ahead of the Chinese president's visit. The message of the Chinese ambassador was conveyed to both the leaders of the protesting parties, the sources said.

President Xi Jinping is visiting Pakistan for the first time as head of the state since he took over the office in March last year.
