(MENAFN - Arab News) The Human Rights Association in Asir recently provided assistance and shelter to a five-month pregnant woman who was battered by her husband.
Ali Issa Al-Shuaibi supervisor of the association said they received a report from the woman's family stating that their daughter was repeatedly beaten on the street and in her house and that the neighbors heard her screams.
In cooperation with the Social Affairs Department and Khamis Mushyat police the association managed to transfer the woman to the Civil Defense hospita in the region.
Al-Shuaibi said the association is waiting for the results of the probe and the medical report from the Health Department in Asir. He added that the association is regularly checking on the woman's health condition and providing reports to her family.
He indicated that once the investigation is complete the necessary legal procedures would be taken against the husband.
Al-Shuaibi expressed his appreciation of Khamis Mushyat police and the Social Affairs Department in Asir for their response and assistance.
