(MENAFN - Arab News) Purefoods Hotdog bowled just hard enough to separate itself from the pack and nailed its first Team of the Week award during the sixth session in the FTBJ-ICBL 34th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

The second runner-up in the last conference under the colors of Paradise Brand Purefoods mustered 38 points on a day when the lead changed hands in this five-man team Friday afternoon league event.

The previous week honoree Pin Crushers and JP Gilas Striker tied on 31 points followed by Frontiers on 30.5 points.

Just as when it looked set to pull away Lucky Strike lost the lead to JP Gilas after a modest haul of 25 points with Sky Freight Forwarders on 23.5 points.

Defending champion Alliance in Motion Global carded 21 points and was elbowed out at third place in the team standings by Purefoods in the process.

Hidada Ltd. tallied 20.5 points while D' Barkads GM Pin Pals and Lance & 3rdy finished as the last three teams on 20 16.5 and 7 points in that order.

Purefoods slackened only in the second game in an otherwise steady display that had the trio of Nick Gozun Marie Gumpal and Len-Len Berina leading the charge on 595 589 and 542.

Cesar Monares hit a pair of 200s (210-211) team captain Igna Salgado added 222-174 and Majid Aslani made 194-202 to complete the Purefoods scoring.

JP Gilas produced the men's and ladies Bowler of the Week awardees in Paolo Allego and Lou Punzalan on 657 and 601 and this was chiefly the reason the team passed Lucky Striker at No. 1. Zaldy Bacero tossed in 583 Rey Beltran had 556 and Jeanette Cerbito contributed 540 in Gilas five-man team onslaught.

Daryl Laquias was the main man at Crushers that also netted 594 from Edwin Ronaquillo 589 from Tess Marasigan 557 from Jay Bengco and 536 from Aileen Miralbuna.

Over at Frontiers Ric Antonio showed the way on 603 in a five-man team rotation followed by Mike Protacio 595 Tommy Kamal 589 Grace Funtillon 578 and Nezar Mohd 552.

Babes Tiongson was two pins shy of 600 (598) while leading Sky Freight that had Goying Salazar Rod Morales and Yolly Santos going the full distance on 554 521 and 549.

Team standings after the 6th week:

1. JP Gilas Striker 180.5 points 2. Lucky Strike 177.5 3. Purefoods Hotdog 177.5 4. Alliance in Motion Global 156.5 5. D' Barkads 143.0 6. Pin Crushers 143.0 7. Sky Freight Forwarders 140.0 8. Hidada Ltd. 131.5 9. Lance & 3rdy 122.5 10. D' Frontiers 117.5 11. GM Pin Pals 99.5
