Japan Welcomes Moves for Ukraine Ceasefire


(MENAFN- QNA) Japan's Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida said Thursday that his government welcomes the progress toward a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine.

At a news conference, Kishida said Japan will continue to monitor the situation in Ukraine closely. He added that he expects parties concerned will do more to reach a ceasefire soon. He especially called on Russia to take positive steps for a peaceful solution to the crisis, according to Japan's (NHK WORLD) website. Kishida also said that his government will pay close attention to a NATO summit starting on Thursday and other developments related to the situation in Ukraine.

Kishida was one of the ministers that survived the recent cabinet reshuffle.
